Dr Eugene Yeo is a General and Colorectal Surgeon who has a special interest in Robotic and Laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer with more than 17 years of experience. He obtained his medical degree as well as completed his surgical training in Singapore, and previously worked at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) as a Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery.
He spent 1 year on a fellowship to Yonsei Severence Hospital in Seoul, South Korea – the world’s highest volume robotic surgery centre with experience of more than 30,000 robotic cases. Dr Yeo is one of Singapore’s highest volume robotic colorectal surgeons, and is one of the few local surgeons recognized and listed on the Da Vinci® (Robotic surgery) surgeon locator website.
Dr Yeo is well known both locally and regionally for his expertise in Minimally Invasive Surgery. He is a founding and board member of the Robotic Surgical Society of Singapore(RS3), and is regularly invited to moderate, speak as well as perform live surgery at local and international conferences. Furthermore, his interest in surgical education has led him to serve in the role of Director of the Endoscopic Platform in the SingHealth Surgical Skills centre in SGH as well as being a regular faculty in the endoscopic and advanced laparoscopic courses held within the institution.
Dr Yeo also believes in the importance of contributing academically. He has authored book chapters, journal articles as well as multiple video articles over the years. His video articles on WebSurg, one of the most recognised video journals internationally, have garnered more than 120,000 views to date, and in 2018 he was awarded the Hall of Fame award, given to the best video of the year amongst the hundreds of international entries.
Eugene strongly believes that knowledge and technical ability mean little if doctors are unable to empathise with their patients. As such he makes special effort to understand every patient’s situation and attend to all their individual concerns holistically. As a result of this, he has been recognised with multiple service awards over his years of public service. He hopes to bring this same attitude and ethos of service to all his patients going ahead.
